A Decade? Seriously?

Did  I seriously just spent the past 48 hours at our Air Force Academy 10-year class reunion?? Yep. It happened.  Um...excuse me, Time, slow the 'H' down already! The weekend was a slightly mixed bag of emotions for me though -- thrilled to see old friends and meet some of their new little families but also a bit sad to say such a brief hello (or none at all in some cases) then goodbye to our beloved C-Springs "family". Hopefully, Team Anders can pack up shop and head west once again in the near future... Anyway (waa waa)...the reunion weekend was amazing!  I picked Sam up at the Springs airport around 10 AM, we grabbed some essentials and then headed for the hotel . It's a good thing we're still so classy. That evening Kathy and Rollan Logan, my sponsor family, had us both over for dinner. They had prepared all my favorites -- grilled chicken with the special Logan BBQ sauce, cheesy macaroni goodness, salad and beer!! The conversation was wonderful a...

September 11th - 10 Years Later

September 11th...always a day filled with deep reflection and, certainly, plenty of longing for the way things "used to be". Sadly, I honestly can't remember the pre-9/11 world since I've lived all but two years of my adult life in a post-9/11 military. Unlike numerous events that my memory struggles to recall, I don't even need to close my eyes and try to replay that Tuesday morning ten years ago today. I don't want to dwell on the topic but I do want to quickly document my memories because, if you know me, there's a chance I may not remember my name in another 10 years. Jace and I were juniors at USAFA and we both lived in Vandenberg Hall so I'd always swing by to say hello on my way to class before the chaos of the day began. At that time we had room inspections on Tues AM so everyone's doors were open as the normal churn of the morning got underway. As I was walking down the hall I saw a few people's televisions displaying crazy "B...

Mom-cation

Love this beach...yea that was a pun Jace had been encouraging me to take a quick get-away while he had some solo Daddy/Easton time (aw, sweet) so last week my friend Samantha and I headed to Clearwater Beach, FL for a 2-day/3-night vacay. To say Sam and I were overdue for a get-together would be quite the understatement...we've been best friends since USAFA and the last time we actually got to hang out was at a mutual friend's wedding in 2007! Since our last time together she's left the military for corporate America and her husband Fred have welcomed two adorable little boys, Hayden & Colton, to their family. Hayden & Colton Look at these cuties!!! I don't think I know another woman in my circle of friends that works as hard as Sam so it didn't take her very long to scream "YES" at me when I asked if she was game for a vacay! Junior year @ USAFA maybe? Regardless, I must have just finished eating!! June 2007 No little kiddos fo...
