Surprise...It's Team Anders' Baby Shower!

Thanks to my wonderful husband and our amazing friends Pete Foster & Crystal Ornelas (herein referred to as "The Fosters") Baby Anders had a wonderful baby shower yesterday!  I should have suspected something was up with all the super secret phone calls Jace says he was making but, sadly, I was oblivious to his schemes.  Our friend Polly Sandness was in town and we had been on an absolute Dunkin' Donuts bender so Jace suggested we head out and get some real food at a local restaurant's brunch. I was excited about that (yep, pregnant lady excited to eat - so strange) so got all dressed up to match Jace's unusually dapper attire and off we went.  Polly mentioned she wanted to swing by the apartment's clubhouse just to check out our amenities.  Being an absolute real estate voyeur myself I appreciated her request to snoop around so was happy to oblige. After we got out of the car I noticed a sign that said "Baby Shower around back" and began to pu...

The Nursery Is Ready!

These past 48 hours were a complete whirlwind but SO MUCH FUN!  My Mom flew in Monday evening for a quick 2-day trip to help her artistically challenged daughter decorate and accessorize Baby Anders' nursery.  Mission accomplished!  Unlike the weekend with my Dad there really aren't too many details to recap beyond "WE WENT SHOPPING"! From Babies 'R Us to Target to TJ Maxx/HomeGoods there was little time for much else...well except a break to create some dark chocolate dipped marshmallows and pretzels last night! It was such a fun time and I can't put into words how much it meant to have my Mom here to prepare us for such a life-changing event.  It's such a wonderful feeling to walk into the baby's room and know she made it look the way it does - especially since we live so far apart right now!  So without further rambles here are the pics of our finished nursery (and a quick highlight of Jace putting our stroller together - LOVE!). Than...

Dad's "Doolie Day Out"

Jace and I took a trip down to Newport, RI to visit my Dad during his break from  Direct Commission Officer Indoctrination Course at Newport Naval Station.  For those of you who don't know, my Dad joined the US Navy Reserve Dental Corps this past September and currently drills (pardon the pun) at Navy Operational Support Center Tucson. Attention! This weekend marked the halfway point of his 12-day crash course in Navy customs and courtesies, proper uniform wear, Navy command structure and all that good stuff.  Such a trip down memory lane for both Jace and me as he told us how he's currently sleeping on top of his bed (but not in the sheets) because it's made to spec and he doesn't want to mess it up and how their room was torn apart after they spent hours preparing for inspection (SAMI anyone?)! We couldn't quit chuckling and shaking our heads all weekend.  I've gotta say I never imagined I'd be buying my Dad edge dressing and teaching him tricks...
