Don't mind those clouds... focus on the blue sky! Finally, FINALLY, the sun has come out in New England! For all those who have visited us over the past few weeks you know exactly what I'm talking about. We were absolutely plagued with a Seattle-like, misty haze for the past few weeks but as of Monday we officially kicked that habit. Thank you weather gods! So our little homie turned 6 weeks today and what a 6th week we had...if I had to pick a theme it would be "What up, Doc?".

Happy Sunday everyone!  Well the whirlwind of visitors has finally ended at the Team Anders household.  It was wonderful for all of us to have our parents visit but I must say it's nice to have our space back. This past week was Grandma Jan's chance to meet her grandson and we had a very laid back few days. Unfortunately, the weather was just horrid in Boston so we never got a chance to take a walk before Jan left on Thursday (and I realize in writing this that I was also AWFUL with taking photos - sorry). We did log some quality time with the Today Show, caught up with Rachael Ray every morning and then made ourselves terribly hungry watching the Food Network until Jace got home. Watching so many cooking shows motivated me to make dinner every night though so that was great.  We had Baked Pasta with Chicken Sausage on Tuesday and Lasagna Primavera on Wednesday!  Loved having time to get back in the kitchen...and to have someone to cook for that doesn't mind a litt...

Just got my June issue of Parents magazine  and while reading I came across such a great short snippet-type article that I had to share. The article in their "Solutions" section contained some suggested ideas on how to keep in touch with your kids when you have to spend time apart. Unfortunately many of my friends (and probably me at some point in my career) will find themselves separated from their families when duty calls. These ideas were great - some quite common, some I'd never heard of -  so I really wanted to share (and document for future reference when it's my turn to play in some distant desert). Again, these suggestions are reprinted directly from Parents magazine - not claiming any sort of creative credit :) 1.) Count Down the Days Before you go, help kids craft a simple tear-away calendar with cardstock and markers so they can easily see when you're coming home. 2.) Look at Lovey! Take along one of your child's stuffed animals or toys and...

So confused if you consider your kid 1 month old after 4 weeks or actually 1 month from the date they were born...I'm going with the latter :)  Anywhoo....so I've yet again dropped some cash on Etsy.com and purchased these cute little onesie stickers from Lil' Baby Bumblebee so I can document Easton's growth over his first year.  Jace thinks the idea is so great that he almost wanted to take the pictures himself but I had to politely ask him to back off ;)  Yes...sarcasm once again from yours truly. Easton's been kickin' it on the Team Anders roster for a solid four weeks now and I think Jace and I can safely say he's become an impact player.  It's been quite an entertaining month watching him go through so many changes already...some super fun, some not so much.  Falling distinctly in the "fun" category would be watching (and feeling) him change physically.  His little little pumpkin has changed from looking like a bullet to, well, looking more like a round, semi-little (have you seen my husband's head?) pumpkin.  Not making the "fun" list would be the transition in Little Homie's diaper output as we've transitioned from breast milk to formula.  My ever-articulate co-captain stated so perfectly this morning... "I'm glad I'm not a diaper!" 2 days old 4 weeks and, yes, that's the same outfit as above (last time he'll wear this!) This past week was my father's turn to visit his new grandson and it ...

Having fun...or sleep deprived...can't remember which one it is!  It's been three incredible weeks with little homie and we've wrapped up with two of our four visitors.  Last week was Jace's dad's turn to help us hold down the fort.  He arrived on Thursday afternoon and left today...and I can tell you we have one SUPER sad Yorkshire Terrier now that he's gone.  Dean was on doggy patrol for most of the week...little Rae got more walks in four days than she's probably got in the last four months!  Thank goodness the weather was nice - or nice enough for Dean to tough through some yucky New England drizzle.  He's a hardened Minnesotan though so that's no surprise :)  We watched a lot of baseball (the Twins are in town playing the Red Sox) and kept a pretty low profile but did manage to get out for a few walks.  Easton's recent developments include projectile vomiting (demonstrated yesterday), briefly tracking objects as they move, and rejecting the ...

Happy May Day everyone!  Easton was up bright and early on this sunny Sunday morning and wasn't having anything to do with "swaddle then sleep".  So I decided to break out our Bright Starts activity mat that Matt & Heidi Bader gave us (thanks again guys).  Little homie kinda liked it so I thought I'd record a few minutes and share. P.S.  On a completely unrelated note my Mom and I watched "The King's Speech" last night and it was really good.  Definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't yet! :)
