Party On, Easton!

Photo courtesy of  Wild Juniper Etsy Store As promised here's a glimpse into the super fun party we hosted yesterday...but first a few observations: Jace and I have some amazing friends but apparently they can't read (but thank you all so very much for the gifts) :) Any romantic ideas I had about opening a bakery one day have died a miserable death after making cupcakes from scratch, baking a cake and making enough frosting for both! Vegetable shortening is disgusting and should NEVER EVER EVER be used to make frosting. Eww. Or maybe I messed something up but I'm going with "eww"... Don't ever let Jace and I plan a party for you...or if you do completely underestimate the number of people attending and then you'll have the perfect amount of food. My husband is incredible! He was luke warm about this party until I told him how much I was looking forward to it and from there he was all in. From picking up the rental chairs to cleaning the kitchen...

Watch Me Grow...12 Months!!

Easton at 1 month and 12 months It was a super rainy day here today and as Jace and I were trying to entertain a whiney little boy this morning it dawned on me that I hadn't taken Easton's 12 month pictures (he's got two more upper teeth coming in and he's a hot mess)! I have been so focused on his first birthday that I actually forgot about the stickers until just this morning...oops! So in order to properly close the year of stickers here's Easton's 12 month photos...sadly, I've run out of steam with this project (just look at how lazily I put on the sticker...nope...it isn't straight) so please forgive the lack of creativity in these shots. If anyone's interested in a short skinny dude with a large melon text me! Wt: 20.7 lbs (20%); Ht: 28.4 in (16%); Head Circ: 18.8 in (85%) Oh, Mom, this again? Sheesh... OK, OK, this isn't so bad if I get to rock the chair all by myself But now I'm over the rocking thing...are you ...

Happy 1st Birthday, Little Homie!

Throwback! (1 week old) Hard to believe one year has already passed since our little  Easton was born ...and what a blessed year it's been! We are so fortunate to have a healthy, happy, vibrant, loving, sweet and smart little boy to call our son. He's lucky to have had the opportunity to meet all four of his grandparents - and have a great-grandmother following all his milestones from her computer back in Illinois (how awesome is that?!). Over the past year we've celebrated many milestones...some big, some small but ALL super thrilling to good 'ole Mom & Dad. We had planned to do a little get-together with some friends on Saturday but postponed it to this coming weekend so we decided to do a little family celebration on Sunday afternoon. He got a little better at unwrapping presents since Christmas but not much... Partial success! Thanks Mike & Emily :) A drum from Joey & Catie - he's a big fan already A fun book from G...

Chocolate Easter Eggs & Red Shades

The Easter chocolates that once were... Hope everyone out there had a wonderful Easter/Masters Sunday (all religions welcome here on this blog)!  Jace is in  Philadelphia, MS  with his dad and the Rodgers men at their annual Grudge Match golf trip so Easton and I were holding it down here at home. Easton and I celebrated in our own ways...he with a sweet four hour nap this morning and me by eating all the Fannie Mae chocolate eggs Auntie Sherry and Uncle Wayne sent us while waiting around for him to wake up from what is usually an hour and a half nap. He was the winner today. We laid low most of the weekend except for a quick trip to the mall on Saturday morning. FYI, the mall doesn't open until 10:00 AM on Saturdays. I figured that out after nearly losing my mind prying our massive stroller out of my tiny trunk in the Burlington Mall parking lot. Once I wedged that beast back in we took a detour to iParty to pick up a few things for the big 1st birt...

Walk This Way!

Today I picked Easton up from daycare and as we were putting his shoes on and about ready to head out for the day I decided to stand him up and see how his balance was coming along...ba BAM he took about 8 steps to me! So exciting...our baby's walking!!! So in true stalker-mom fashion I rushed home (rush being a relative term - I drove at the 15 mph base speed limit), did not pass go, did not take my jacket off, and immediately fired up the camera (video below). Here's the result... if at first you don't succeed...just do it for Daddy :)
