Well Team Anders has been having a whole lotta fun lately...but I've been miserably lazy about writing about them so here's my mega recap of the last month and a half. Hope you're settled in because there's a lot to tell...and more importantly, lots of pictures!!!
I'll start first with Easton's 15-month well baby exam (17 Jul 12). Our first experience with Wright Patt Medical Center was great and we're happy with his pediatrician -- so far. Easton's continuing to grow right on track but we're still giving him his iron supplements until 18 months -- works for me b/c it meant we didn't have to stick a needle in his arm that day to accompany the vaccine in his leg. His weight was 23 lbs (29%), height was 31.25 in (52%) and his head circumference was 48.5 cm (83%)...
Medium height, skinny kiddo with a huge melon!
Later that week good ole Grams rolled in to Dayton and we were on the fast track to Fun Town. See??? F-U-N...
Whooosh! OK, yea, I need some work on this technique but gotta
start somewhere :)
Easton learning to kick...Grandma always thinks of the fun stuff
Grandma isn't officially "here" until the stroller comes out
So Grandma's purpose in swinging through Dayton was to watch Easton while Jace and I headed back to Boston for Pete and Crystal's wedding. I've only been blogging about that for...oh...ever since we left Boston in May. Just a little excited. Well, as to not bore you entirely because we have lots more to cover, I'll just say I didn't make it. I blame the crappy weather the day prior to my flight (tons of delays/overbookings/general airline goodness) and a shining example of how decisions are only as good as the data used for this epic travel fail. Jace represented Team Anders admirably though and from all the pictures I've seen and stories I've heard it was the perfect day that our lovely friends deserved!
Mr. and Mrs. Foster -- no quotes just beautiful :)
Wedding receptions bring out Anders' dancing shoes!
And apparently his desire to act? Not sure what's happening here...
but I bet it was fun
So the silver lining to missing the big event was getting to spend some more time with my Mom. We took eSmiggity to swim lessons (and the water heater was broken -- sorry again, Mom), explored Dayton's 2nd Street Market and enjoyed some more time at the Huber Heights splash pad.
Mom and I enjoying the patio -- my hair enjoying the humidity :(
Oh yea, forgot to mention Miss Libby Lou also made the trip!
How pretty :) She's such a sweetheart and Rae loved having her here
Somehow found a blueberry yogurt covered pretzel...
hmmm...Grandma?
Just a fun little joint - and they have a little shop that
makes only crepes...YUM
Sunday was hot - the perfect day for splashin'!
I now realize he looks so silly in long sleeves and a hat -- probably won't
change my MO but he does look silly
Grandma was a trooper -- this water was colder than the pool
Mama branching out...no hat...whoop whoop
High Five, Grandma!!
Now let's go play some more...
So, sadly, Mom left us on Tuesday the 24th and headed for some lake time with Hal and Jacque. Jace and I were quite jealous -- we haven't been to the lake in years :( But the good news is the next time we see her it will likely be with both her and Dad! He's nearing the end of his Mercy tour with their final days in Cambodia wrapping up this week...can't wait for him to get home and hear all about his adventures at sea.
The weekend came quickly and we had a Friday date-night with friends and spent Saturday at a BBQ hosted by one of our newest CAGers - Capt Sam Mink, his wife Sara and their 16-month old daughter, Kathleen. They have the ULTIMATE backyard for the little kiddos and were wonderful hosts -- and Sara can whip up a scrumptious cupcake!...just sayin' :)
See? Look at these beauties!!
We trodded slowly through the next week of work anxiously awaiting Sherry & Wayne McChesney's arrival on Thursday night!! They drove down from St. Louis Park by way of Madison (and a stellar pick up from New Glarus) and arrived just as I was getting out of work...it was perfect! We enjoyed a fabulous evening with lots of laughter and way too much Milano's pizza...and so the gluttony began :)
Friday morning started with lots of K-cups, a brief visit with Mickey Mouse and then tried our luck with a "breakfast" spot Wayne found while searching the interweb back in Minnesota...yea...the man is hilarious. This joint is called Tanks Bar & Grill...located on Wayne Ave...and affectionately became known as Tanks on Wayne for the rest of the weekend. Let the numerous references to Caddy Shack begin... We got there around 9 am and apparently it was just about the same time as the nurses from the local hospital were ending their shift because there was a long table of about 10 of them all debating whether or not they should have "another one" like it was Friday night. We got to thinking that it probably was their "friday night" and we were probably the frightening ones looking through the drink menu...
Thought this was cute of all the boys...Mickey included
Tanks on Wayne
We called ahead and got a nice window seat
I was on leave and wasn't driving so impressed my
dear husband with my ability to drink a beer with
breakfast -- Wayne made me do it
Thought this was hilarious. 1 sippy cup of OJ, 1 "no spill" container of
Teddy Grahams, 3 letter blocks, 1 pacifier...1 screwdriver for Auntie Sherry
Easton finishing up his 2nd breakfast
He probably ate 3/4 of Sherry's ham (thanks, Sherry) :)
We'll never forget Tanks on Wayne!
After our bellies were full to the brim with Tanks' goodness Jace guided us on a scenic tour of beautiful downtown Dayton. We saw the Oregon District (apparently Dayton's "Epicenter of Cool" -- probably true, quite sad), the Riverscape Metropark and then ran out of things to point at so we headed home...it was almost time to head out to the airport to pick up McChesney #3 -- Cousin Jake!!!
Uncle Wayne you make a crazy elephant noise
while I beat you with this Twins bat. If I smile
does it make it OK?
These two ran in circles around the couch all
weekend. So much laughter I was afraid E was
going to break a rib.
The fellas headed out and eventually made it home (by way of Buffalo Wild Wings because Jake was "hungry"). We needed something to do to fill a few hours before the A-dults headed out to catch a ball game.... enter Young's Jersey Dairy -- Round #2 (Here's Round #1).
E was more open to the goats this time
All animals are "daa daa"s -- just "daa daa" over and over again -- so cute!
BFFs!!
All the boys!!!
Riding the Daa Daa
Seriously? I'm still laughing... I love this man
This one's for E's Great Grandpa T! :)
hey. daa daas. i'm coming for you.
aw dang it -- maybe on Round 3 I'll be big enough
BAM! gift shop snuck up on Mommy and made me buy this shirt
Our lovely sitter Kara arrived right on time and we all headed down to watch the Dayton Dragons...it was a beautiful night for baseball!
Lawn seats = $7. Best. Seats. Around.
Tried to find a way to get the shadow off Sherry's face so please
excuse the funky filter...so mad I ruined the original shot :(
These two are so much fun -- could have sat on that lawn all night!
Two cool for school....yea...that just happened
Shot of the left fielder. Why you ask? Why not?
Mascots in the minors RULE
Hip Hop Hoooray, Ho, Hey, Ho
The Tanks on Wayne bus apparently gives rides to the game...oh man...
Leaving the stadium in search of food...Jake was "hungry" again...
Friday night was a smashing success and we quickly followed that with an awesome Saturday morning...again filled with lots of K-cups and a super fat-fabulous breakfast. I whipped up some french toast (OMG so easy and sooooo good -- try it) and some bacon. Bam, fat and yummy! Once the food settled we played "bubbles", sang some songs, watched the Olympics and just enjoyed the time together...and Sherry and I miiiight have slipped out to run a few "errands"...
Our favorite song of the weekend:
And the results of our errands...
Super sweet sleeveless T...because who needs sleeves?
and even sweeter multi-sport toy (it's even better when the batteries come out)! haha ;)
Watching the Olympics - in his Dayton Dragons Bobblehead T-shirt (dang gift shop at the stadium got me, too!)
Wayne made this beautiful little friend for E :)
We ended the evening by throwing some burgers and potatoes on the grill and hunkered down for the night...and were in bed by 9:30! Too much excitement for us all :) It was an absolutely perfect weekend and makes me sad to not live closer to our family. We really appreciated them coming down to visit us and will remember this for a long, long time! Bring on Turkey Hat 2012!!!
Fa, la, la, la, laaa...la, la, la, la. Christmas decorating came a bit early this year but we wanted to be adequately prepared for Uncle Jeff's arrival tomorrow -- and also, Easton is lovin' him some Christmas...and Santa...and talking about presents...which, in turn, allows us to talk about him being good for Santa and said presents. "No, Mom, I got this" I obviously got dressed up for the occasion...honestly, as long as the Christmas tree hat is on I could care less what I'm wearing. :) A quick little stroll down memory lane. Love you, Gramie! E putting his "First Christmas" ornament up Just a little nostalgia -- this is the chair we did all his monthly shots in And a bonus shot (thanks for sticking around so long). Little man's toe nail is no where to be found. So strange. You're welcome, E. Love, Mom.
We just got back from Trunk or Treating at Easton's daycare...how flippin' fun (and pretty roarsome as Henry Hugglemonster would say). Mr. Blondie waiting for the trunk or treating to begin! Still figuring out that the chocolate must be unwrapped first. No hurry to explain :) Homeless Lion with a Market Basket bag. Score one for the parents. Some pretty creative pumpkins!
Considering the World Series may come to a conclusion soon I figured I should get these photos up while baseball's still being played. Though he's not throwin' from the mound with his left (yet) he is definitely a natural left-hand batter. Daddy and Grapes are stoked.
