Raspberries and Carrots

17 weeks and still no hair :/

Hello from cloudy and drizzly Boston, MA. The Team is finally reunited..."and it feels so good" (thanks Peaches & Herb!) So before we plow through multiple loads of laundry--the glorious result of Mr. Anders' two-week trip--I wanted to post a quick update on our past week. We've had three big firsts...first "parent-teacher conference", first artwork and first solid food. I may have jumped the gun with the last of these "firsts" but my curiosity got the best of me. :)

After ice painting, experimenting with warm/cold water
and learning to hold things...wow, what a workout for E!
Easton's been attending daycare at the CDC since June 6th and this was Room 10's first round of parent-teacher conferences we got to participate in. One of E's caregivers, Miss Patty, had put together a really cute binder of all the observations they'd done with him and filled out a really long and detailed report about his development. I was really impressed by all the actual documentation they keep. Patty explained all the "lesson plans" they follow in the room and how Easton is progressing right along the expected timelines. She told me that he's always happy and smiley and enjoys interacting with people. One of the things we talked about was how Smallz has started to do "raspberries". I felt like a total moron because what the hell is a "raspberry"? She told me it's when they stick their little tongue out and make a farting noise. I had no idea the act had a name!! I can't wait to find out what I'm going to learn next :)

The artwork...yea, this must have been a multi-day project because Easton came home on Wednesday looking like he'd played in purple Easter egg dye and then on Thursday he had orange paint all over his clothes...here's the result. Simply magical if you ask me ( :p - raspberry)
Kid's got talent

Let the fridge populating begin!!

Our last first...solid foods! Oh joy...the messiness, the hilarious faces...the new discoveries to be made in his diaper! So as I mentioned earlier, Easton is 17 weeks old...will turn 4 months on Tuesday so I figured it was time to see what the little guy thought of some new tastes and textures. It was just as much fun as I'd thought it would be. We started with some rice cereal and when mixed as the box directs just ends up being a soupy mess so I just stuck that in his bottle and moved on...enter pureed carrots! Saturday's adventure in veggies wasn't as entertaining as today's. Easton took a little more active role in mealtime today and, of course, I took photos and videos of both so enjoy... (bummer but I'm having trouble uploading his actual first bite from Saturday...I know, I know, you're all crushed...the clips below are funnier anyway).
If he had his way his first solid
would be cotton

Intrigued by the spoon that keeps
moving towards his face

Hey Mama give me that thing, I can
feed my dang self...

I can get with this carrot thing

If you don't get that camera out of my face...
Yo, I'm REALLY diggin this

And I'm full...have fun with the laundry, Dad

So needless to say, it's been a great week. Now it's time for me to pack my suitcase for my trip to DC. It's a quick one, leave tomorrow back on Weds. I'm looking forward to this one because tomorrow night I'm going to crash with the Sandness crew. I haven't seen Polly since Feb and it's been over a year since I've seen Mr. "No excuses, just queso" and the kiddos. Hope you all have a fabulous week :)

From the archives...2004, I think!! Love this woman :)

Deck The Halls '13

Fa, la, la, la, laaa...la, la, la, la.  Christmas decorating came a bit early this year but we wanted to be adequately prepared for Uncle Jeff's arrival tomorrow -- and also, Easton is lovin' him some Christmas...and Santa...and talking about presents...which, in turn, allows us to talk about him being good for Santa and said presents. "No, Mom, I got this" I obviously got dressed up for the occasion...honestly, as long as the Christmas tree hat is on I could care less what I'm wearing. :) A quick little stroll down memory lane.  Love you, Gramie! E putting his "First Christmas" ornament up Just a little nostalgia -- this is the chair we did all his monthly shots in And a bonus shot (thanks for sticking around so long).  Little man's toe nail is no where to be found.  So strange. You're welcome, E. Love, Mom.

Trunk or Treat 2013

We just got back from Trunk or Treating at Easton's daycare...how flippin' fun (and pretty roarsome as Henry Hugglemonster would say). Mr. Blondie waiting for the trunk or treating to begin! Still figuring out that the chocolate must be unwrapped first. No hurry to explain :) Homeless Lion with a Market Basket bag. Score one for the parents. Some pretty creative pumpkins!

Little Slugger

Considering the World Series may come to a conclusion soon I figured I should get these photos up while baseball's still being played.  Though he's not throwin' from the mound with his left (yet) he is definitely a natural left-hand batter.  Daddy and Grapes are stoked.
