Adios, captain; hello, major! So it's official...I've joined the ranks of the field grade officers! I've only worn my uniform with major rank for a few hours and wow does it look strange...good, but strange :)
My family, friends and I got to celebrate this occasion on Monday, April 30th and it was a nearly perfect few hours (it would have been perfect if my dad could have joined us but he is in San Diego preparing for his USNS Mercy deployment -- if nothing else, a GREAT story to tell). Colonel Michael Chapin, USAF, retired, officiated the ceremony at The Old North Bridge in Concord, MA. He has been my mentor and friend since I worked for him as a program manager and then his executive officer during our first assignment at Wright Patterson AFB. It was quite special to have him officiate and a fun tradition to keep as he has promoted me to every rank so far (1st Lt, captain and now major)! Take a look:
Group promotion to 1st Lt -- I know it isn't easy to pick me out so let me
help...I'm the last one on the right. No problem, you're welcome.

Sweet do, Anders.
Reading me the oath at USAFA...again with the hair (sheesh)

Drinking an Easy Street Wheat...one I miss dearly.
A+, Col C, A+!
At Monday's ceremony...we have video now for the oath (see below)
I am now officially O-L-D!!!
(April 2012)
There were about 25 people present and it meant the world to me to have them all there as I know life gets crazy and it's not always easy to get away. We went on to continue our celebration with a few drinks and appetizers at Waxy O'Connors later in the afternoon. It was a perfect celebration/send-off social for Jace & I. Here are a few shots and videos from the event.

Easton's excited -- clap, clap your hands everyone!
Rockin' mommy's flight cap. Lookin' good, kid.
Everyone enjoying some food and drinks at Waxy's. It was bittersweet
since we were leaving the next day :(
Here's the video of Col Chapin administering the Oath of Office:
Thank you to everyone who's supported both Jace and I during these past 10 years. We wouldn't be where we are today without the love and support of our family and friends!!! Thank you all so very much :)
Fa, la, la, la, laaa...la, la, la, la. Christmas decorating came a bit early this year but we wanted to be adequately prepared for Uncle Jeff's arrival tomorrow -- and also, Easton is lovin' him some Christmas...and Santa...and talking about presents...which, in turn, allows us to talk about him being good for Santa and said presents. "No, Mom, I got this" I obviously got dressed up for the occasion...honestly, as long as the Christmas tree hat is on I could care less what I'm wearing. :) A quick little stroll down memory lane. Love you, Gramie! E putting his "First Christmas" ornament up Just a little nostalgia -- this is the chair we did all his monthly shots in And a bonus shot (thanks for sticking around so long). Little man's toe nail is no where to be found. So strange. You're welcome, E. Love, Mom.
We just got back from Trunk or Treating at Easton's daycare...how flippin' fun (and pretty roarsome as Henry Hugglemonster would say). Mr. Blondie waiting for the trunk or treating to begin! Still figuring out that the chocolate must be unwrapped first. No hurry to explain :) Homeless Lion with a Market Basket bag. Score one for the parents. Some pretty creative pumpkins!
Considering the World Series may come to a conclusion soon I figured I should get these photos up while baseball's still being played. Though he's not throwin' from the mound with his left (yet) he is definitely a natural left-hand batter. Daddy and Grapes are stoked.
Congrats Ali..........good luck back in Dayton too. Love ya, Aunt K
