...it'll get warm but I'm not holding my breath.
My week started with a quick overnight work trip down to Barksdale AFB. They have B-52s...lots and lots of old B-52s...
All went well with the meeting (who hoo!) but our return flight was this control freak's nightmare. On approach our wheels were about to hit the runway when we caught a nasty crosswind and the pilot had to abort the landing (I think that's what they say but, hey, I fly a desk so I could be wrong). He pushed up the throttle and we climbed through the bumpiest air ever. I was convinced we were going to die. 100% Convinced. (dramatic, much?)
We circled around, attempted another landing, failed, then finally touched down on the third attempt and it was smooth as glass -- go figure. The last time I was that scared on a flight I took a picture of myself so my parents could remember what I looked like. I was like 10...and failed to think that plan through...um, film will burn when exposed to jet fuel and fire...just sayin'... Anyway, that experience wasn't fun but we survived and that's all that matters :)
That takes us through Tuesday so let's fast forward through the uneventful middle to Friday where our president signed a bill that will potentially furlough my husband and friends...

On Saturday night our sitter Kelcey came to watch E and the A-dults headed out for date night. Table for two, please, at Coco's Bistro. Our overall grade for the place would be a B-. We split the buffalo shrimp appetizer then he had a caesar salad with chicken (no dressing) and I had the seared tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes -- my sinuses were adequately cleared out! The food was great but the service fell a bit short for us. It isn't every day you go to a nice restaurant, see that everyone else has a basket of bread, ask for said bread and the server responds "sure, why not?". But it's always nice to get away and have time together...and I got to see a mini-van jump the curb in front of the restaurant so it was cool.
Sunday morning was an early one for us. No idea how that works out because Easton was up until 10 for whatever reason but we filled the morning more of the same....books, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, "moo", hoops, yadda, yadda. I also managed to find some Pinspiration and whipped up some more homemade taco seasoning. Yes. Exciting times.
Keeping our fingers crossed for next weekend!!!

This is probably what we looked like...minus the landing part

"...guidance from the individual military services has anticipated furloughing employees for one day a week, starting in mid-April and continuing through September." - Washington PostAND Easton got da boot from daycare again with a 102 degree fever. Ish, what a week! Thank goodness for the weekend, right? Right. As Saturday progressed his temperature slowly came down as we found some creative things to do around the house.

Ummm scariest flight EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOL'd at your mention of taking a picture of yourself when you were 10. Hilarious. I hate feeling like I'm going to die on flights. I'm overly dramatic too, don't worry.
ReplyDeleteBoo for fevers.
We are supposed to get slammed with snow tonight through Tuesday. And Tom leaves tomorrow for work travel. Lucky, lucky me. Good thing I can work the snowblower like a pro.
Oh my gosh!! How freakin scary is that...I would have been so freaked out too. Wow!
ReplyDeleteYou two are quite the good looking couple in that picture...love the red lipstick on you! Gorgeous!!
Hope E is feeling better.
