Deuces!!

If you ask Easton how old he is he will respond "deuces" and throw his hand up in the air with a peace sign!  All credit goes to Jace and his hard-knocks upbringing in St. Louis Park -- Easton's now the most ghetto two year old in Beavercreek, OH. (I'm laughing fairly hard right now).

As his second birthday draws to a close it's hard to believe we've been so blessed by this adorable little human for two full years!!  It's unreal to listen to him recite his "A, B, C's"...

And listen to him count to 10 (ish)...sometime with a "quatro" thrown in for good measure

The time has flown by so quickly but then again the seems to have ticked away at a beautifully perfect pace.  I'm hoping it has to do with how much I've been documenting our lives or maybe with all the moves it's easy for me to segment the time...regardless, life is good!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Easton!!
This year's celebration was much more subdued than last...no baking a cake, no decorations, no fuss.  I took a half day of leave and picked Easton up from school around 2 o'clock (he slept much later than planned).  From school I took him to a much needed haircut then we swung by Gigi's to grab his birthday "pancakes" (cupcakes) and headed home to meet Daddy/"Babe" and Rae-Rae.  Easton's taken to calling Jace "Babe" because that's what I call him.  It's adorable...especially at night time when he's sitting in his crib saying "hey, Babe, come in here", "babe, where are you?", "be back, Babe".  Two-year-olds are the bomb...but then they have tantrums and are just OK.  I'm kidding...his tantrums crack me up, too.

We spent time cruising down his slide from GammaGampa and Gampa (translation: Bon & Doug)...

Telling him "no" about a million times when he asks to ride his motorcycle from Jack (which I've also taught him to say "yuck" after and he holds his nose like motorcycles smell bad or something when in reality I'm just trying to save him from bouncing his face off another one...and being slightly overprotective)...but see??
This was post-motorcycle accident on Sunday...guess when the box
says for ages 3+ they really don't mean "not quite 2" :)
So we avoided the motorcycle and proceeded to open a few gifts from Grandma Jan...she killed it with a light up bouncy ball and some great Sesame Street stuffed animals that he adores (and is currently sleeping with...if he didn't I was going to, they're like the softest things ever!).

After we wrapped that up it was time for dinner.  I went big.  Homemade pizzas...made from Pillsbury Grands biscuits...out of the can.  I told you this birthday was low-key!  They were good and Jace got his usual salad, no dressing, lots of pepper and salad toppings so the complaint department had a slow night.
Happy birthday meal!
We quickly scarfed down dinner and transitioned to the main event.  Pancakes...or cupcakes as the older crowd likes to call them.  After my test run two weeks ago I was super thrilled for this moment.  And the baker/designer at Gigi's did a fabulous job.  Check these little cuties out!!

Easton, being the mild-mannered little dude he is, just kinda licked the frosting off and nibbled at the cupcake...Mommy on the other hand...well I just began feeling human again about twenty minutes ago after eating all of mine (the #2, dark chocolate caramel w/sea salt cupcake) and 3/4 of Easton's (the elephant, chocolate with buttercream frosting topped with chocolate chips).  Jace had the lion which was red velvet (his fav)...but was a party pooper because he took the frosting off and just ate the cake.  Now that I think about it I'm not sure why I didn't eat his frosting, too.

If you listen closely you can hear GammaGampa singing in the background (she's on FaceTime)

From there the sugar high came and went...I bathed the little dude, put on his jammies, he watched Mickey with "babe" and then it was time for duck book and bed.  Now that he's a grown arse two-year-old the pacifiers were retired this morning so his normal 7:30 night-night turned into a closer to 8:30 night-night.  One night down...the rest of your life to go, little man! ;)

So that pretty much wraps up the story of Easton's second birthday.  It was beautiful.  Thank you to all our friends and family who have been there to support us over the past two years and to those who sent gifts and/or called to wish him happy birthday.  Thank you cards full of scribbled love are on their way!!

Deck The Halls '13

Fa, la, la, la, laaa...la, la, la, la.  Christmas decorating came a bit early this year but we wanted to be adequately prepared for Uncle Jeff's arrival tomorrow -- and also, Easton is lovin' him some Christmas...and Santa...and talking about presents...which, in turn, allows us to talk about him being good for Santa and said presents. "No, Mom, I got this" I obviously got dressed up for the occasion...honestly, as long as the Christmas tree hat is on I could care less what I'm wearing. :) A quick little stroll down memory lane.  Love you, Gramie! E putting his "First Christmas" ornament up Just a little nostalgia -- this is the chair we did all his monthly shots in And a bonus shot (thanks for sticking around so long).  Little man's toe nail is no where to be found.  So strange. You're welcome, E. Love, Mom.

Trunk or Treat 2013

We just got back from Trunk or Treating at Easton's daycare...how flippin' fun (and pretty roarsome as Henry Hugglemonster would say). Mr. Blondie waiting for the trunk or treating to begin! Still figuring out that the chocolate must be unwrapped first. No hurry to explain :) Homeless Lion with a Market Basket bag. Score one for the parents. Some pretty creative pumpkins!

Little Slugger

Considering the World Series may come to a conclusion soon I figured I should get these photos up while baseball's still being played.  Though he's not throwin' from the mound with his left (yet) he is definitely a natural left-hand batter.  Daddy and Grapes are stoked.
