"Good Day Sunshine"

Don't mind those clouds...
focus on the blue sky!
Finally, FINALLY, the sun has come out in New England! For all those who have visited us over the past few weeks you know exactly what I'm talking about. We were absolutely plagued with a Seattle-like, misty haze for the past few weeks but as of Monday we officially kicked that habit. Thank you weather gods! So our little homie turned 6 weeks today and what a 6th week we had...if I had to pick a theme it would be "What up, Doc?".

Where'd she get that hat?
Mm-hm - work it girl!
Monday started with my 6-week postpartum exam with everyone's buddy the Ob/Gyn. Quirky dude but nice enough.  Gave me the quick once over (pretty standard practice for him) and told me all's healed.  I asked how long until I'm "good as new" and he just smirked and responded "you'll never be 17 again".  Oh...really? Good thing because when I was younger I was HOT...might make life a little too crazy for Jace.  I'm just sayin'...

OK, wow, lost control of that paragraph...let me regain my focus.

Tuesday found us out and about because, well, I was bored.  Headed up to Hanscom to fill a prescription and while we were there had an impromptu visit with the pediatric nurse to discuss Easton's mega-spewage...kiddo is constantly spitting up what seems like ounces of formula. After Easton both peed and puked on her she scheduled us an appointment on Wednesday with the pediatrician.  On a happy note, Tuesday night was a big night in the Anders household as Easton pleased both Mom & Dad by knocking out his first 6 hour nighttime sleep!  Ata boy, E :)  He's since continued on that trend so, with fingers crossed, I believe we may have turned a corner.  This also means Jace won't need to get up in the middle of the night anymore but gotta give him props for helping out while working all day!  His buyers will be most pleased with a well rested Mr. Anders. :)

Wednesday rolled around and back to Hanscom we went.  Easton, Jace and I saw Dr. Eckard and explained the situation...spitting up lots of formula after feeding, vomiting here and there, but no signs of distress or rejecting bottles or anything like that.  The doc just told us that babies do that (read: leave me alone you hypochondriac mother).  Instead of putting the little guy on unnecessary meds we are just supposed to feed him smaller amounts more frequently, burp him often and keep him upright for a bit after he eats.  We'll check back in a week.  Good news is that little man is gaining some healthy weight!  Tipped the scales at 10 lbs, 8 oz on Wednesday (3 days shy of 6 weeks old).
27 April 2011 - 11 days old
27 May 2011 - Almost 6 weeks
Once the sun same up on Thursday, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed I took E into his room to change his overnight diaper and he had yet ANOTHER surprise for me...yellowish-green goo coming from his left eye.  Ugh...does this kid have pink eye?? EW! So I grab my phone which by now pretty much spontaneously dials NavyMed (our appointment scheduling line) and ask for our second phone consult in three days.  Life with an infant... :)  Luckily the base was able to squeeze us in for an appointment before the Family Day on Friday and three-day weekend.  Diagnosis: conjunctivitis.  Treatment: erythromycin ointment.  Only problem was the goo stopped on Friday so I guess he just healed on his own...hmmm.

Friday was free of all medical personnel and we just enjoyed the day.  E and I watched Rihanna kick off the Today Show's summer concert series and danced around to "Only Girl" which reminded me of the most adorable and hilarious video my friend Mel posted on her blog.  This is her daughter Greta bustin a move! I can't listen to the song w/out thinking of the Leonards :)

And that bring us to today and I must extend a HUGE thank you to our friends Jeff & Christie Hajner who babysat Easton for me while I ran out for some "me" time (Jace is home in MN tonight - yep, just for tonight).  I got my nails done, had a facial and roamed the aisles of Target sans-infant.  It was an amazing day and so wonderful to know we have friends who really mean it when they say "we're here to help" wanting nothing in return. <<hugs>> The second thank you I'm going to throw out goes all the way down to Mckinney, TX for Samantha Kaiser.  We've officially booked a girls trip to Clearwater, FL and I'm beyond excited she said "yes" when I presented the idea of a quick getaway earlier this week. So excited to sleep in, relax on the beach and catch up with one of my best friends on the planet!  Yeay!

Before I close just a quick request for you to please reflect a little on what this Memorial Day holiday is all about.  There are so many amazing men and women, both in and out of uniform, that have laid down their lives so we may continue to enjoy the freedoms of this wonderful country.  Give them a moment of your time as they, and their families, gave so much for us :)

So I'll wrap up with what I know you all come here for...pictures of the little man.  Sorry to be so wordy this week but I had a lot to say! ;)  He's getting so big...enjoy!!!

Look at this little chunky monkey!

Thank you for my handmade blanket, Kathy
(and Rollan too - I know you were there helping!)
Keep on workin that left arm, E!
Tummy time is MUCH easier on the Boppy

Deck The Halls '13

Fa, la, la, la, laaa...la, la, la, la.  Christmas decorating came a bit early this year but we wanted to be adequately prepared for Uncle Jeff's arrival tomorrow -- and also, Easton is lovin' him some Christmas...and Santa...and talking about presents...which, in turn, allows us to talk about him being good for Santa and said presents. "No, Mom, I got this" I obviously got dressed up for the occasion...honestly, as long as the Christmas tree hat is on I could care less what I'm wearing. :) A quick little stroll down memory lane.  Love you, Gramie! E putting his "First Christmas" ornament up Just a little nostalgia -- this is the chair we did all his monthly shots in And a bonus shot (thanks for sticking around so long).  Little man's toe nail is no where to be found.  So strange. You're welcome, E. Love, Mom.

Trunk or Treat 2013

We just got back from Trunk or Treating at Easton's daycare...how flippin' fun (and pretty roarsome as Henry Hugglemonster would say). Mr. Blondie waiting for the trunk or treating to begin! Still figuring out that the chocolate must be unwrapped first. No hurry to explain :) Homeless Lion with a Market Basket bag. Score one for the parents. Some pretty creative pumpkins!

Little Slugger

Considering the World Series may come to a conclusion soon I figured I should get these photos up while baseball's still being played.  Though he's not throwin' from the mound with his left (yet) he is definitely a natural left-hand batter.  Daddy and Grapes are stoked.
