Whew what a FUN weekend we just wrapped up...and a calorically intense one as well I must add (me and the Minuteman Trail have a serious date tomorrow). A belated Happy Veteran's Day to all of you readers out there who have or are currently serving this great Nation! Jace is celebrating the holiday the same way he has for the past four or five years... in Las Vegas playing for the Hanscom Eagles at the Armed Service Hockey Classic. To keep us company for the three-day weekend, Grandma Bon and Grandpa Doug came out to visit Easton and me. This is a long post so I'll hit you with the upfront Cliff's Notes video if you're just swinging by for a second:
START THESIS:
Mom & Dad arrived on Friday on their usual red-eye/early morn JetBlue flight from Phoenix and were at the apartment by 0730 (they're travel pros now on the Logan Express bus). First order of business was lots of Baby Smallz time for Grandma and Grandpa. Now that Easton can fit in his Navy onesie that LT Tomlinson purchased for him down in Newport I thought what the heck...I mean it's Veteran's Day for goodness sake and being the stellar ACSC student I am can appreciate some jointness in the household (my Facebook friends weren't quite feeling the love though, sorry Dad)!
Gramps, this is your cue that I'm hungry...
Too bad we can't see Easton's face because I'm not sure
who won the "Your Face is Going to Stick That Way" contest
Mmmm...pears, strawberries and granola
and oatmeal!
A is for Apple, B is for Bald...
Grandma being re-introduced to the baby vice grip
sweet :)
Hey Gramps - let's play!!
Alright, sailor, gimme 20!
19......20!!! YEAH!!
What's next, Grandpa?
Naptime...
Aye-Aye!!
After the morning's activities were over we decided to take a walk around Reading to see the trees and enjoy some fresh air. We cruised down to the local elementary school so we could take Easton for his first swing...so exciting!! He loved it - check it out:
And we're off!!
That's Mom and me - well our shadows anyway :)
The aftermath of the beautiful New England
trees - so thankful I don't have to rake those!!
Or these...
Rae...spring-loaded..
OK normally when I do this there's something
below me for my feet to touch...unsure about this
Changed my mind - this RULES! Yeay, swings :)
Look at the little homie in his new crazy knit hat (thanks, Grandma)
That's a keeper :)
Super fun :)
Leaving the playground and heading home
Love those Autumn colors :)
Grandpa Doug on stroller duty
A random shot, I know, but found this on our walk & I LOVE Angry Birds
The adults topped our Veteran's Day off with a trip to Beacon Grill while our babysitter, Sara, came and hung out with Easton. It was a great day. Then Saturday rolled around and that means Swim Lesson Day...hooray! After watching the Today Show and drinking our morning coffees we headed off for the Hanscom pool. I was so excited because my Mom was going to do today's lesson with Easton. In addition to dominating the SCW Pickleball ladder my Mom's a competitive swimmer and taught Jeff and I how to swim so it was extra special for me to have her take our little guy to begin his adventures in the pool (and also allowed me to be super stalker with the camera)!!
Before "class"
Using these "barbells" was a first for Easton because we only lasted
about 10 minutes last week - how cute!!
If you were wondering, yes, those are his size 0-3 month swim trunks.
"Smallz..."
This was the face that led me to ENDEX last week but Mom was so
good with him that she got him to calm down and then finished 'er up!
Grandma - 1, Parents - 0
Swim lessons were NO JOKE kiddo... ;)
My Mom and I filled the afternoon with shopping and pedicures while my Dad hung out with Easton and enjoyed lots of college football - no complains for either party! When we returned home it was time for Easton's bath and then Mom and I cooked a meal and just enjoyed being together...another solid day!!
Scrub-a-dub-dub
He's still determined to wrap his hands around the running water
So focused on kicking - was so adorable
Evil baby face - grrrr
Today was the end of our incredibly short time together (sad). Super depressing to watch my folks say bye to Easton and roll out of here with their bags :( The time change, being here by myself and the fact that baby boy has been dealing with an upset tummy has made for a rather crappy evening. (yea, woe, is me, I know...) So on the "upset tummy" front...on Friday I switched Easton back to the Gerber Good Start because our pediatrician said it was OK for us to try it now that he's older than 6 months. She said that many children outgrow their milk allergies by that point so we were clear to give it a try...let's just say the three rounds of Exorcist-like projectile vomiting have answered the mail on whether his allergy still exists or not. It's awful and now I know the absolute difference between "spit-up" and "vomit"...ew... Even though he hasn't retained much of what he's eaten is still his happy, smiley self. I did call the on-call doctor and she advised me to reduce his bottles to 1 oz. at a time when he wakes and do that every 30-45 minutes while he's up...hopefully his stomach settles soon.
So with that I'll call this entry a wrap. Thanks for reading and hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
Fa, la, la, la, laaa...la, la, la, la. Christmas decorating came a bit early this year but we wanted to be adequately prepared for Uncle Jeff's arrival tomorrow -- and also, Easton is lovin' him some Christmas...and Santa...and talking about presents...which, in turn, allows us to talk about him being good for Santa and said presents. "No, Mom, I got this" I obviously got dressed up for the occasion...honestly, as long as the Christmas tree hat is on I could care less what I'm wearing. :) A quick little stroll down memory lane. Love you, Gramie! E putting his "First Christmas" ornament up Just a little nostalgia -- this is the chair we did all his monthly shots in And a bonus shot (thanks for sticking around so long). Little man's toe nail is no where to be found. So strange. You're welcome, E. Love, Mom.
We just got back from Trunk or Treating at Easton's daycare...how flippin' fun (and pretty roarsome as Henry Hugglemonster would say). Mr. Blondie waiting for the trunk or treating to begin! Still figuring out that the chocolate must be unwrapped first. No hurry to explain :) Homeless Lion with a Market Basket bag. Score one for the parents. Some pretty creative pumpkins!
Considering the World Series may come to a conclusion soon I figured I should get these photos up while baseball's still being played. Though he's not throwin' from the mound with his left (yet) he is definitely a natural left-hand batter. Daddy and Grapes are stoked.
