A Fabulously Felt Birthday

Birthdays. Super fun. I think I'm 33 but just
had to check the math again.
Birthdays are pretty great...despite the getting older part (I could deal with a little Benjamin Button type crap for the next few of them). It's always really great to hear a few little "hellos" from friends and family throughout the day whether it be through phone calls, or text or even a Facebook post so THANK YOU ALL for taking a second to say hello on Friday it truly made my day :)

Jace, my boss and co-workers all surprised me with cake and a SUPER embarrassing screening of our AF hoops '01-'02 highlight reel -- Nelly's "#1" laying a nice background track for my bright red face. Oh Jace...not everyone needs to know we were so gangsta'!
No question. GANGSTA!
I'm such a lucky girl though, his surprises are the best! I was convinced no one in the office knew it was my birthday and, to top it off, my uber-laid back boss had sent out one of those cryptic "we need to talk about some stuff. everyone meet at 11. not optional" emails to the team so I was certainly less than impressed with how this birthday was progressing. Fast forward past the 15 different conversations we all had about what crawled up the boss' you know what to us all sitting around our meeting table waiting to hear what had gone so drastically wrong. The boss started with me first because I was leaving early to go to a volunteer event at 12. Great. I just loooove messing up and am a huge fan of being told about it publicly. Perfect birthday present. It was at this point he asked my coworker to pull up the monitor and oh sweet Nelly did his thing...and then Jace walked around the corner with a cake. Yeay! Birthday saved :) Like I said, I'm a lucky girl.

So I stuffed my face with yummy cake, changed and headed off to my afternoon with Habitat. Sadly, when I arrived the site supervisor had called the day off on account of the rain so I didn't get a chance to work. Bummer. I called the office, took a half-day off and headed for JoAnn fabric. If I couldn't build a house...why not a felt Christmas tree?? I spend so much time pinning fun stuff to Pinterest but never actually doing the projects so on Friday that all changed :) Check this out!! Turning over my new crafty side in this 33rd year of life...
Even bought new scissors because I'm such a dumb@ss and didn't
realize you really don't need new scissors to cut felt...noted.
Also come to find out I bought about 80% more felt than I really needed.
Shocker.

Tada! 50 bucks and *ahem* 2 to 3 hrs later -
Easton's new felt Christmas tree!!

Reach for that star, Little Homie!!
P.S. it helps if you lose the Hot Wheel
It was a fabulous birthday and I also got some new swag to show for it. Jace, of course, didn't stop with the cake. So not his style. He got me a sweet-lovin' Bears beanie (because I have been awfully sick of wearing purple for the last few years)
and a beautiful new North Face jacket. Spoiled.

My parents sent me a new camera strap and helped me out with a tripod and new photo editing software. Thanks for supporting my new hobby (and encourage this fantasy that I could just get paid to fiddle on my mac/the internet, take photos, edit them and write nonsense) M&D. Sadly I'm still as clueless as when I took my first photo but I'm having a blast! And thanks to Cheryl & Dean for the candle that had made our house smell like we actually have a real tree and Sherry & Wayne for feeding my Frango habit -- you know me too well ;)
From flowers to chevrons. Yellow and grey. Love.
We finished the night off with a trip to the AFMC Holiday Party. I took one picture of Jace checking his watch. I won't post it because 1. that's "naugh nice" as Easton would say and 2. the picture is horrible ;) I did rock some red jeans tho...whoo hoo!! This series of "what the HELL do I wear?!?" and the sheer agony of getting dressed up is dedicated to my ABUs. (I went with #3 -- thx, girls, you know who you are!)

Thanks again everyone!! Love you :)
