Weekdays With Team Anders

I've been meaning to document our weekday routine for quite a little bit.  Easton's 21 months old and I'm sure things will be changing before we know it so I want to make sure we remember this! This post is long so consider yourself warned :)

Our days start sometimes at 0240 or 0443 or, on a good morning, 0530.  The early wake up calls are not from our child, they're sent with love from Rae's ever-shrinking bladder and/or her need to poop. That's a whole other story though...good thing she's cute!!

Our cute little 7 year old...cuteness is blurry at 2am

So on a good day, the 0530 wake up, starts with me hopping in the shower, dressed and leaving the bedroom by 0600. It's off to the kitchen to make some breakfast for myself -- usually an egg sandwich (yum!) -- while Jace hops in the shower. We can hear the little munchkin in the other room spouting off his "daddy, daddy, daddy, mommy, daddy, daddy, gampa, gampa, rae, rae..." See how I just get the shaft?!?  I generally roll in to get him at 0610 and it's my favorite time of the day. His face is all scrunched up from me turning on the light and his hair's going in a million different directions.

He's always so happy in the morning...that is until after he gets dressed and we say "No" to the relentless "Mickey Mouse? Mickey Mouse?" requests. Then he moves on to "Choco waa-waa?" (translation: chocolate milk) and I fill it up with almond or whole milk. He drinks it. We're both happy. :) Jace usually pops into the kitchen while getting ready and makes his Spark. Easton chimes in with "Daddy choco waa waa, Daddy juice?". It's adorable.

From 0620 to 0640 we rock it out in the kitchen with some "wakkles" a "manana" and NPR. I spend my days with plenty of hard-core conservatives so any liberal spin I've ingested with breakfast is balanced out by lunch. Regardless of what's on the radio, Easton just wants to know how many monkeys are jumping on the bed while we get ready for our day. When the stars align we're finishing up breakfast and brushing E's teeth by 0645 and out the door by 0650! But that's when the stars align and we are generally adding about 10 minutes to that timeline :)

Brusha, brusha!!
Luckily E's daycare is just up the road (no kidding 3 minutes door-to-door) so we can easily absorb the delays at home :) Jace starts work at 0700 and I'm generally in the office at 0715. But that's the boring part so...FAST FORWARD.
Stapler, anyone?
It's now 3:30 PM and guess what...Mr. Anders is gettin' off work. Yea. It's true. Anyway, fast forward another two hours and it's 5:30 and I'm getting off work. When I get home Jace has already picked up smiggty Smallz from school and is feeding him din dinna in the kitchen.

After dinner it's time for books, coloring or playing with Rae for a little while...then it's BATH TIME around 6:20 PM!! E usually loves bath time. We start with "socks off" (and I almost need a gas mask -- kiddo's got some stank feet) and he can do that on his own. Next is "shirt off" and he just helps by putting his arms up. And then we follow those two feats with "pants off" and he then tries to take both his pants and diaper off at the same time and it's hilarious. Hasn't quite figured this step out yet so we have to help. :)  We try to sit on the "pu-pa-potty" but all he wants to do is take the little padded seat off and wear it on his arm while saying "bye-bye" mimicking us when we grab our bags to go somewhere. So after we go a few rounds of that I ask if he wants to sit on the big potty and he says "Daddy potty" and I hold him up there for a few seconds. Neither potty related activities result in urine in a toilet but we'll keep trying.

happy bather
During the bath he loves filling cups with water from the faucet or dunking them in the bath and flinging water EVERYWHERE. Once I calm him down from that he transitions into "it's snowing" and then just uses his hands to spray water everywhere. I end up looking like I've taken a shower in my clothes once bath time is over. It's annoying but his little smile makes me melt so I just hold up a towel to block the spray :)

I pop the Little Homie out the tub after about 10 minutes, wrap him in his "dino towel" and head for his bedroom.

I slap on his overnight diaper, cover him (and usually my clothes) in thick Eucerin cream and let him pick out his "jammies...oooh, oooh" (i don't know, it just came out of my mouth one night and it stuck -- sing it, like a song, "jammies...oooh, oooh" like you're in a tribe on survivor). His favs are his Mickey Mouse jammies (surprise, surprise) but recently he's been diggin' on his bear pajamas and whatever random pants he picks out.

From there it's back to "floss" and brusha brusha. I put floss in quotes because he just like to put the little flosser in his mouth, suck on it and then hand to me..."All done". I try to get a few little flosses in and sometimes he lets me :)  He's become very willing to let me brush his teeth and tongue lately and thinks it's fun. Score one for Mommy (and Grandpa!)
E "flossing"

After that last stop it's finally time to go see Daddy and watch a show. He used to watch Baby Class every night but then started to ask for Big Bird (though, Sesame Street never shows Big Bird anymore) or Mickey so Jace switches it up from night to night. He usually gets anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes of a show...just depends on when 7 PM rolls around.

Daddy. Easton. CRAZY Rae.
At 7 PM (or when Jace says he's totally zoned out) I snatch that little sweetness up and put him to bed. So that's pretty much our Monday - Friday, folks!  Happy Friday eve to you all :)

Deck The Halls '13

Fa, la, la, la, laaa...la, la, la, la.  Christmas decorating came a bit early this year but we wanted to be adequately prepared for Uncle Jeff's arrival tomorrow -- and also, Easton is lovin' him some Christmas...and Santa...and talking about presents...which, in turn, allows us to talk about him being good for Santa and said presents. "No, Mom, I got this" I obviously got dressed up for the occasion...honestly, as long as the Christmas tree hat is on I could care less what I'm wearing. :) A quick little stroll down memory lane.  Love you, Gramie! E putting his "First Christmas" ornament up Just a little nostalgia -- this is the chair we did all his monthly shots in And a bonus shot (thanks for sticking around so long).  Little man's toe nail is no where to be found.  So strange. You're welcome, E. Love, Mom.

Trunk or Treat 2013

We just got back from Trunk or Treating at Easton's daycare...how flippin' fun (and pretty roarsome as Henry Hugglemonster would say). Mr. Blondie waiting for the trunk or treating to begin! Still figuring out that the chocolate must be unwrapped first. No hurry to explain :) Homeless Lion with a Market Basket bag. Score one for the parents. Some pretty creative pumpkins!

Little Slugger

Considering the World Series may come to a conclusion soon I figured I should get these photos up while baseball's still being played.  Though he's not throwin' from the mound with his left (yet) he is definitely a natural left-hand batter.  Daddy and Grapes are stoked.
