Full Throttle

Unfortunately I don't get to wear a sweet
bandana like this to work...nor could I figure
out how to even put it on in such a cute and functional way
I'm exhausted...I need a weekend from my weekend, I think. :) Lots going on here in Boston - nothing I didn't ask for so I won't complain but I would like to go on record and say that I think I'm just about to my max capacity. Also..."Mommy Guilt" is a biotch. Though I'm not struggling to set an example for a daughter as the "Mommy Guilt" article touches on, I'm struggling terribly with striking a work/family balance right now. It's absolutely maddening...I need a mentor...a woman with eagles on her shoulders with little kiddos at home...I wanna know her secret to success...but none to be found. Bummer. Guess I did complain a little bit, sorry :(

Now that I've got that off my chest I'll transition into the happy, fluffy part of my weekly updates of our adventures. We started the week off with E's 9-month appointment. His weight and length are now at the 75th percentile according to our pediatrics staff and his head circumference is in the 95%. I question such a significant jump since last visit (and can't get the number to compute to the same percentiles in my online tracker) but whateves it doesn't really matter. He's healthy, on track developmentally and still just as happy as ever. You can see his actual weigh/length/HC here under the second photo.
Happy, healthy and loves to eat wood spoons. Perfection!

Jace left Thursday for his beloved U.S. Pond Hockey Championship in Minneapolis. Team Franchise made it to the single-elimination championship round today but lost in the first round again. Gotta find a way to get these boys over the hump...a little reminiscent of the AFA women's hoops record at the opening round of the MWC Championships...maybe they need me to coach. HA! Ok but anyway seems like they all had a great time again this year. We can't wait to get him home though, that's for sure!!

Better luck next year, gents!!
BTW, I'm currently in love with whoever/whomever did the graphics for this year's website! <--even with that cheater link I'm still confused by the proper use of who/whom in this instance...where's Mrs. Morthland when you need her?

I don't know if anyone was taking any photos so I borrowed a few from the website so you can get a glimpse into the world of pond hockey...still foreign to me, too.

While Jace has been gone Easton continues to become more confident in his four-wheel (crawling like a speed-racer) and two-wheel drive (is now shuffling sideways while standing up using the couch or other objects to balance). Too bad he couldn't accelerate that learning curve so he could have helped out good 'ole mom with shoveling the driveway after Saturday's snow. Actually I can't claim that I did much in the shoveling department...our neighbor who is a "single" parent (hubby is deployed) of three boys has done our driveway TWICE in the past 72 hours!!! Yep, just let that guilt pile up, Al...holy buckets. The next time it's supposed to snow I'm going to rope off our driveway so she doesn't do it again but I doubt that'll keep her out. Guess this is what being part of a community feels like, eh? Weird...brownies are on their way to her house later today!!

We got about 3-4 inches of some dry, fluffy stuff :)
Lemme go, Ma, lemme go!!!

He's also getting quite good at bouncing his pumpkin off of various objects...pantry door, floor, rails at school and the side of his crib. I'm on pins and needles every time he moves but I suppose we've all banged our heads on the quest for two-legged independence.

Smallz started eating from the infant menu at school on Thursday. Dominated some steamed broccoli and ground beef. Took down some chunky peaches on Friday. Good times, good times. Lots of Cheerios, Gerber puffs and bits and pieces of this and that being thrown down the chute (and to the floor) now at Casa de Anders. It's fun to watch him analyze the new textures in his mouth...some of his facial expressions are classic. He's also getting quite good at yawing like a grown @ss man...HA...just cracks me up...

Just a bit sleepy

Cheerios!!!

The amount of laundry we now have to do has grown exponentially -
I thought it was bad when he was spitting up...think again.
Yea...remember when you used to just lay under that thing and stare
at the colorful bees? Me too (tear)

Got this sweet helicopter toy for Christmas. It talks at random times and
he has been scared of it...

Until now...

Our latest discovery...door stops...they make cool noises when you play
with them...over...and over...and over again :)
So that's about it from here but let me leave you with a quick summary of my Saturday night... After Easton's adventures in macaroni and cheese (see above) a bath was the next logical step.

Check out that hair!!!

As I was wrapping up with him in the kitchen I decided that a grilled cheese and tomato soup would be some perfect comfort food after putting him to sleep. In my multi-tasking wonder I got the bread all buttered, the cheese set out and put the tomato soup on the stove on 'low'. Fast forward through his bath, we're leaving the bathroom and the smell of tomato soup filled the air. Thought to myself "wow, that smells good...strong, but good". As I'm exiting our bathroom into the upstairs hallway I get punched in the face by the smell of tomato soup...this time not such an appetizing smell. Set Smallz down in his crib and head down to the kitchen to assess the scene...
Dinner - 1, Anders - 0
It was an absolute mess of splattered tomato soup on the stove, on the microwave, on the floor, all over Easton's bottles, all over the refrigerator. Lovely. No soup for me. Back upstairs to put Easton down and then I'd deal with that mess. Ugh. Fast forward to mess cleaned up about 20 minutes later. Bummer there wasn't any more soup but I did leave the buttered bread and cheese out so might as well just whip up a grilled cheese and call it a night...bread in to the oven under the broiler...

Dinner - 2, Anders - 0
I gave up and had a glass of wine.

Hope you all have a great week - time to tune into the Pats game - I'll leave you with two great shots of my parents. One from San Diego where dad had his first 2-week tour. He had a blast and my Mom's such a beautiful military spouse. The second is from my Mom's latest trip to the Flying E dude ranch. She's a legit cowgirl...and can actually pull off the bandana. My parents rock!

  1. I agree with the article, mommy guilt hits you no matter what you do and how much time you spend with your babes. Even when I am with him all day, I wonder if I could have done more "quality" parenting. Ah well, we loves each other and it works for us!

  2. HAHA! Thanks for the laugh. I about died seeing the picture of your stove. Definitely been there done that. We missed you and lil E this weekend. I bundled up the boys and brought them to Saturdays second game. Within the 30 minute drive down there, it got cloudy, windy and SUPER cold. So we stood in the tent the whole time. Not really what I was expecting. HA. It was great to see Jace for the little time I did. Hopefully you guys can make it next year. And hopefully they can win a game on Sunday :-)

Don't stress too much about the Mommy Guilt. Just know you are doing something right by at least feeling like you aren't doing enough (I promise, you are!!) - Have a good week!

Deck The Halls '13

Fa, la, la, la, laaa...la, la, la, la.  Christmas decorating came a bit early this year but we wanted to be adequately prepared for Uncle Jeff's arrival tomorrow -- and also, Easton is lovin' him some Christmas...and Santa...and talking about presents...which, in turn, allows us to talk about him being good for Santa and said presents. "No, Mom, I got this" I obviously got dressed up for the occasion...honestly, as long as the Christmas tree hat is on I could care less what I'm wearing. :) A quick little stroll down memory lane.  Love you, Gramie! E putting his "First Christmas" ornament up Just a little nostalgia -- this is the chair we did all his monthly shots in And a bonus shot (thanks for sticking around so long).  Little man's toe nail is no where to be found.  So strange. You're welcome, E. Love, Mom.

Trunk or Treat 2013

We just got back from Trunk or Treating at Easton's daycare...how flippin' fun (and pretty roarsome as Henry Hugglemonster would say). Mr. Blondie waiting for the trunk or treating to begin! Still figuring out that the chocolate must be unwrapped first. No hurry to explain :) Homeless Lion with a Market Basket bag. Score one for the parents. Some pretty creative pumpkins!

Little Slugger

Considering the World Series may come to a conclusion soon I figured I should get these photos up while baseball's still being played.  Though he's not throwin' from the mound with his left (yet) he is definitely a natural left-hand batter.  Daddy and Grapes are stoked.
