Along the Way

The Tuesday after a four-day weekend is always a bummer, right? Yea, same held true today, no big deal, but I'm not writing to complain...I'm writing to fill ya'll in on all the fun we had this weekend!

It was finally here...my dad's trip to Dayton!!! None of us had seen him in almost a year (look how small LH was!!) but that's OK, he's been kinda busy. :) He arrived on Thursday afternoon and due to a last-minute meeting Jace got roped into I headed off to the airport to pick 'em up -- a pretty sweet twist of fate actually (go ahead...read on). I arrived early enough to meet him as he was walking to baggage claim. I got my HUGE hug and it was the best -- then he makes the oddball comment "I hope you don't mind but I picked up a woman along the way!" I turned my head and BEST SURPRISE EVER there was my mom!!! :) I was thrilled to have them both here with us...and we bee-lined it to pick Easton up from school.

First stop... patio for snacks and bubbles!!!
Learning how to drink from a cup...

Good job, Little Homie!

Kiddo loves him some bananas

Fun Grandpa Time!!

Some happy, happy boys :)
We spent the rest of the evening catching up, looking at Dad's photos from his trip and enjoying a lot of family time. Friday morning rolled around and it was off to work for Jace and back to Young's Dairy for the rest of us. I was hoping to get Easton back out to the pumpkin patch but didn't realize that those activities only take place on Saturday and Sunday. No worries we had fun enjoying the beautiful fall day around the barn...and it appeared they had brought in most of the pumpkins from the field anyway. Look at all of them!

Fall fun with Grandma and Grandpa:

It was such a gorgeous day that I had to take some fun fall shots. Here's a few of my favorites...edited of course :)

We finished up at Youngs, grabbed some lunch at the Sunrise Cafe in Yellow Springs and headed back to the house with all of us looking forward to nap time (well almost everyone...Bonnie T hasn't taken a nap since she was like 7 months old).  Jace got off work around 3 o'clock and we had a repeat performance of playing in the yard, dancing, dinner/bath time with Easton (normally separated by at least 30 minutes but not this night) and quality family time for the rest of the evening.

Saturday was a big day in the Anders household...Air Force vs. Navy...it didn't end well so I'll fast forward to the fun part of the day, our trip to the Air Force Museum. We had a special tour guide, too -- thanks for spending some time with us, Col C! :)

Stroller? No. C'mon Grandma & Grandpa...let's do this!

Hasn't really figured out the whole "looking into the sun thing"...
but then again neither have my mother and I...

He obviously doesn't think the B-2 is as cool as I do...give it time :)

My most favorite photo from the trip!  This is the B-24.
Easton's GREAT Grandpa T flew 35 missions in this beauty as a nose gunner -- pretty cool, right??
I'm thrilled we got this photo :)

This is Easton's best impression of his dad circa 2002

And I'll take this opportunity to highlight Easton's favorite exhibit --
the chairs were great for climbing!
We wrapped up at the museum and headed home for another night of relaxo! Mom and I played cards (she refreshed my memory on Spite & Malice) and the guys watched football (surprise, surprise!). Sunday, sad Sunday, rolled around and it was time for Grams & Gramps to head back to the Arizona desert but not without a sweet little sendoff from United airlines...they cancelled their flight about two hours before the scheduled departure time so my Mom got to do the "there & back" from our house to the airport again. I will avoid buying a flight from Dayton to anywhere via Washington DC...ugh!!
It's always sad to see them go but what a wonderful surprise to have them both here with us for the weekend.

And that brings us to Monday...good ole Christopher Columbus Day!! We were pumped because Easton's daycare was actually open so we took him in late and had a mommy/daddy day date and it was AWESOME! We went out to breakfast, grabbed coffee at Caribou, bought our Halloween costumes, bought E a little desk at the local Once Upon a Child store (killer bargains!!) and went to the movies -- all before 2 PM! haha.
One coffee, one hot chocolate -- two happy parents!!
We saw "Trouble With the Curve" and it was good -- definitely a fun, easy flick to check out :) We picked up Easton later that afternoon and headed off to buy him a pumpkin at a local farm -- the same farm where Polly and I got pumpkins the last time we lived here. Adorable little place...

he helped pick Daddy's, too!
Surprise!! A "new" desk :)
And that's him just taking all the crayons out
of the box. Not using them, just taking them
out...all of them...

And so I'll wrap up this super long post with a little Halloween cheer :) Hope everyone's having a great week...by the time you read this it'll almost be Friday!! Whoo hooo

BOO!

Deck The Halls '13

Fa, la, la, la, laaa...la, la, la, la.  Christmas decorating came a bit early this year but we wanted to be adequately prepared for Uncle Jeff's arrival tomorrow -- and also, Easton is lovin' him some Christmas...and Santa...and talking about presents...which, in turn, allows us to talk about him being good for Santa and said presents. "No, Mom, I got this" I obviously got dressed up for the occasion...honestly, as long as the Christmas tree hat is on I could care less what I'm wearing. :) A quick little stroll down memory lane.  Love you, Gramie! E putting his "First Christmas" ornament up Just a little nostalgia -- this is the chair we did all his monthly shots in And a bonus shot (thanks for sticking around so long).  Little man's toe nail is no where to be found.  So strange. You're welcome, E. Love, Mom.

Trunk or Treat 2013

We just got back from Trunk or Treating at Easton's daycare...how flippin' fun (and pretty roarsome as Henry Hugglemonster would say). Mr. Blondie waiting for the trunk or treating to begin! Still figuring out that the chocolate must be unwrapped first. No hurry to explain :) Homeless Lion with a Market Basket bag. Score one for the parents. Some pretty creative pumpkins!

Little Slugger

Considering the World Series may come to a conclusion soon I figured I should get these photos up while baseball's still being played.  Though he's not throwin' from the mound with his left (yet) he is definitely a natural left-hand batter.  Daddy and Grapes are stoked.
